The Spyro Speedruns Cup was a tournament promoted by the International Spyro Grand Prix (co-chaired by CrystalFissure and Nintendogen64). The tournament, which began in April 2019, was a 32-man single elimination tournament.

Current Progress

• The tournament was officially announced on March 26, 2018, by CrystalFissure and Nintendogen64.

• Round 1 began on April 15, 2019, and ended on May 14, 2019

• Round 2 began concurrently during Round 1 once enough competitors qualified around May 10, 2019, first match uploaded on May 15.
  • Round 2 lasted over three months, mostly due to waiting on video submissions and hosts being lax about it.
• Round 3 finally began on August 1, 2019, with the first two matches uploaded.
  • Like Round 2, this Round has gone on for an exceptionally long time. Round 3 finally ended on October 3, 2019.
• Round 4 began around early November 2019, with the first match uploaded on November 20.
  • The last Round 4 match was uploaded publicly on January 1, 2020. CrystalFissure, by his own admission, had the tape for some time and mistook it as footage for the Grand Final.
• The Grand Final was completed on December 12, 2019, and the video uploaded on January 1, 2020 (New Year's Day)

Special Rules

Single Elimination

In a divergence from the ISGP, the Spyro Speedruns cup was set to be a single elimination tournament. The tournament featured 32 competitors resulting in a total of five (5) rounds. If a competitor lost a race, they were eliminated from the tournament. Each round will see exponentially fewer competitors, i.e., 32 (Round 1), 16 (Round 2), 8 (Quarter Finals), 4 (Semi-Finals), 2 (Grand Final). At the end of the tournament, the sole remaining competitor will be crowned the new ISGP Champion.

Accepted Games

Despite the Spyro Speedruns Cup being a Spyro the Dragon tournament, exceptions have been made for the specific games that are allowed to be run. These games are as follows:

• Spyro the Dragon [NTSC-U/PAL]
• Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage/Gateway to Glimmer [NTSC-U/PAL]
• Spyro: Year of the Dragon [NTSC-U/PAL]
• Spyro the Dragon [NTSC-J]
• Spyro x Sparx: Tondemo Tours [NTSC-J]

After Ratchet5 and KingEurope1's race in the Crash Bash demo in Spyro 3 from ISGP 2018, demos inside Spyro games were prohibited from being raced. Demos of these Spyro games from other sources, however, were permissible.
