Road to King of Spyro Style (2021) Super Crash League

King of Spyro Style (2021) is an upcoming speedrunning event promoted by the International Spyro Grand Prix (ISGP), co-chaired by CrystalFissure and Nintendogen64. The main event will feature the newly crowned ISGP Champion, Daniel Davidson, defend his title against the former champion MuddyMaestro in a singles match. Paesani Di Legaia (Al Molloy and Gentle Tauradonna Oathsworn) will defend their ISGP Tag Team Championship against the winners of the World Tag League (2021). Other matches on the card include a Crassic Speedrunning Championship match against defending champion, g4video5, and challenger, Yogamoanyo as well as a highly anticipated singles bout between Laura and Yeswally1.

Background

In 2018, CrystalFissure and Nintendogen64 attempted to run an event named King of Spyro Style. However, due to many factors, the event was ultimately shelved with only one of the planned matches going ahead. At the beginning of 2021, it was announced that King of Spyro Style would return to follow up the World Tag League (2021). This order of operations was akin to how the 2018 King of Spyro Style was supposed to come after the first World Tag League. With its position in the ISGP calendar firmly in place, it came time for hosts to put together a fitting match card for the event.

At the World Tag League Supercard (2021), Daniel Davidson unseated the incumbent champion, MuddyMaestro, to become the new ISGP Champion. Heading into World Tag League it seemed that Daniel Davidson's winning ways would continue as he and his tag team partner, Charity Royall steamrolled the competition and entered the grand final as an undefeated team. Standing in their way, however, was the team of MuddyMaestro and g4video5, who would ultimately go on to win the World Tag League. This victory in tag team competition would earn Muddy another shot at the title he had lost to Dan Davidson but would also gain him and g4video5 a shot at the ISGP Tag Team Championship against Paesani Di Leagaia (Al Molloy and Gentle Tauradonna Oathsworn). With two huge title matches, MuddyMaestro has the potential to walk out of King of Spyro Style (2021) with both the ISGP and the ISGP Tag Team Championships.

Alongside his challenge for the ISGP Tag Team Championship, g4video5 is also scheduled to defend his Crassic Speedrunning Championship. g4video5 regained the Crassic title from Al Molloy at the World Tag League Supercard (2021) and is now set to defend it against Yogamoanyo, who has been on impressive form all year including getting to the semi-finals in both the World Tag League and the Spyro Speedruns Cup (2021). The latter of which he was drawn into the same group as g4video5 and would go on to outperform him. Now for the first time ever, Yogamoanyo will go one on one with g4video5 for the Crassic Speedrunnng Championship.

At the end of 2020, Amelia Kuchel and CharmedSky joined forces to form their tag team the Parallel Pals and with Alice Clarke would form the trio of Pythagoras' Angles. At first the trio seemed to have promise as they would go on to defeat Death Triangle and earn a shot at the Crassic Trios Championship. One failed title challenge to Seethe Harbor later and the trio would be directionless with Amelia leaving the group to in search of a tag team partner for the World Tag League. The group would ultimately disband, however, CharmedSky would later challenge her former tag team partner to find out who the strongest member of the trio really was.

Thrown together for the purposes of competing in World Tag League, ThePsychicGaymer and GarthVader would soon form a strong bond and go on to challenge the Golden Lovers (CrystalFissure and Nintendogne64) for the ISGP Tag Team Championship. Despite almost upsetting the champions and walking away with the titles, Big Spaghetti Mommas (as they were called) would go on to finish 6th in their block. Despite this, the two would remain on good terms and go on to trade the ISGP Exhibition Championship back and forth before deciding to test their abilities on the grand stage of King of Spyro Style in a friendly contest of skill.

Finally; since joining the ISGP community, Laura had focussed all of her attention on one goal, becoming as good at Spyro: The Dragon (1998) as she could possibly be. After grinding day and night at the game she would bring her personal best time for completing the game lower and lower before finally working up to one objective - beating arguably the greatest Spyro speedrunner in ISGP, Yeswally1. Wally held the ISGP Championship for almost 2 years and was seemingly unbeatable at all three games. Will Laura be able to claim the title of top Spyro 1 speedrunner or will Wally send her back to the grind and prove why he is the Emeritus ISGP Champion?
